Merle Haggard’s first appearance, from the August 2, 1969 episode of “The Johnny Cash Show.” Hag plays “The Fugitive/The Highway Is My Home” and brilliantly covers Jimmie Rodgers’ “No Hard Times,” then joins Cash for some palaver and a duet on “Sing Me Back Home.”
